How To Quit Smoking - What Is A Look At Smoking Control

This is really a decision that if you use your head it just does not make any sense to continue with your smoking at all. By building a plan and following it and by knowing what you are going to get as a payoff for quitting this habit you will cause yourself and remind yourself even when you are tempted that the payoff is so much more for breaking the habit than to continue with a way of life that is costing you dearly both financially and health wise.

I did not think I would be able to break my smoking habit. It seemed like I was always waiting until the stress in my life was at a minimum to begin to quit and of course that just never seemed to happen. I used my smoking as a stress reliever and I just didn't know what to replace it with. I was apprehensive of gaining weight and it seemed like every time I stopped smoking or even attempted smoking control, I replaced my smoking with eating and as soon as I saw a weight gain over five pound I was once again smoking.

It was not simple but I started some smoking control by replacing other activities and habits for times when I would usually smoke. When I decided that I had to quit the smoking habit I started with a list of pros and cons for my decision to smoke or to quit. In other words what I was getting out of smoking and then the cons to keeping my smoking habit. Of course the pros far outweighed the cons. The financial and health costs of a smoking habit makes the decision to continue on one you cant really defend in any sense except for the fact that as a smoker this is a habit that you enjoy.

After I made my list I hung this list up on my bathroom mirror and also on my refrigerator door. I wanted everyday to see my motivation for changing my behavior this helped considerably since quitting smoking is a decision one has to make day by day. The instant you stop smoking you have to expect there will be times when you will slip but in the times past that I slipped, I just accepted failure and started smoking full steam ahead. This time if I slipped and bought a pack of cigarettes or smoked one I begged from a friend I allowed myself forgiveness for not being perfect and started right back up.

Before I saw the scales go up I made sure to go to the gym more and not to replace eating with smoking. I also rewarded myself by pampering myself with a little something I in most cases wouldn't do for myself. If I pay attention to careful smoking control my cigarette consumption always goes down. I can not say that I don't think about smoking from time to time and more than likely always will but I also prompt myself that what you save is both health and money. Your clothes don't smell like smoke your hair doesn't reek of smoke and you can taste the food you eat. You can also put the cash you would have used for buying cigarettes into a saving account and watch it grow.
